$60 Million Investment Sees Viva Wyndham Resorts Begin Construction of New 750-Room Oceanfront Hotel in Miches, Dominican Republic

Viva Wyndham Resorts, a collection of all-inclusive resorts located in the Caribbean, including the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and Mexico, today announced the groundbreaking of a 750-room hotel in Miches, Dominican Republic, in an event that was attended by President Luis Abinader.

The resort, the first hotel to settle in the Miches area, was made possible by a $60 million investment to kick off the first stage of construction. It is expected to open its doors in 2023 and will generate 500 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect positions.

“For Viva Wyndham, this resort marks a new period of expansion in the tourism of our country and the region. It adds us to the development of Miches and opens the door to later participating in the Pedernales tourism project, as well as the international sector, in Jamaica,” said Ettore Colussi, President of Viva Wyndham Resorts. “Because we believe in the country and we trust the government that runs it, we are here today starting the first of the two hotels to be built in this tourist complex," added Colussi.

MCR Purchases and Opens The Chambers Hotel in Downtown Minneapolis Near The Target Center and Target Field

USA's 4th-largest hotel owner-operator acquires The Chambers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis and opens its doors to guests.

-It’s quite a showstopper! MCR has acquired the 60-room The Chambers Hotel on 9th Street and Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis’s historic theatre district.

MCR rebranded the hotel, formerly a Le Meridien, as an independent property, complete with a new logo and website. The logo, which has a simple, modern C, is a nod to the hotel’s name and the building’s shape. Throughout the hotel, design features incorporate double Cs in celebration of its home in the Twin Cities!

Built-in 1908, The Chambers Hotel is now open after being closed for nearly a year. And not a moment too soon! Just around the corner, the Target Center, one of the world’s top arenas visited by 1 million people per year, is hosting the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx games and WWE Presents Friday Night Smackdown on July 30. A five-minute walk away, MLB’s Minnesota Twins are playing ball at Target Field. Watch them take on the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers in early July!

The legendary Orpheum Theatre directly across the street — which has hosted groundbreaking performances from the Marx Brothers’ vaudeville act to The Lion King’s debut — is preparing for one of its biggest seasons yet. Disney’s Frozen breaks the ice with performances starting October 7. Oklahoma! brings a beautiful mornin’ in November (yes, everything’s goin’ our way!).

The Quin by Hilton Club re-opens following year-long $50 million renovation

Hilton Grand Vacations which pioneered the urban timeshare concept in New York City is raising the bar once again with a new flagship property, The Quin by Hilton Club. The Quin, located on “Billionaire’s Row” at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 57th Street, re-opened on June 28, 2021, as a best-in-class timeshare property following an over $50 million top-to-bottom renovation. The Quin’s transformation, combined with HGV’s anticipated summer 2021 opening of The Central at 5th by Hilton Club, located on East 48th Street, demonstrates HGV’s commitment to New York and the increasingly significant role of timeshare in the city’s hospitality industry.

“Our investments in The Quin by Hilton Club and The Central at 5th by Hilton Club signal our confidence in the rebounding travel industry and long-term demand for timeshare ownership in NYC and beyond,” said Mark Wang, president and CEO of Hilton Grand Vacations. “The timeshare business model continuously proves itself to be remarkably resilient during challenging times, just as New York City itself has proved resilient on so many occasions – emerging stronger than ever after each time. We’re proud to expand our diverse property portfolio in the nation’s cultural and financial capital.”
